What is Taekwon-Do?

Taekwon-Do is a Korean martial art developed for the South Korean army in the mid-1940s by General Choi Hong-Hi. Officially named in April 11th, 1955, using his knowledge of calligraphy he named the art “Taekwon-Do.” Tae (跆) meaning to “destroy with the foot,” Kwon (拳) meaning to “destroy with the fist,” and Do (道) usually a suffix attached to martial arts (such as Karate-Do, Judo, Tang Soo Do) which stands for “the way, or the path”
Our school belongs to the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF) which was established in May 22nd, 1966 in Seoul, Korea. The current president of this ITF is President Choi Jung-Hwa, son of the founder. We also belong to the US-ITF, whose president is Grandmaster Robert Wheatley.
